Reducing Wrinkles

Wrinkles can be either a blessing or a curse – depending on their severity and location. In our 30’s, when our soft wrinkles start to appear, they can be viewed as  a badge of maturity and representative our life’s journey so far. Unfortunately, the record of that journey continues to increase over time. Sometimes wrinkles don’t express how we feel about ourselves, and can start to affect how others feel about us.

BEAUTIFUL SKIN

Looking Beautiful

There is no denying that we live in a society that values youth and youthful appearance. Some of us age more noticeably than others, and this can affect us both physically and psychologically.

Older skin is often sun-damaged skin, and the prevention of further damage can be accomplished by reducing your sun exposure. However, over time our skin ages, and shows its age in spite of being careful to use sunscreens and protective clothing. Modern dermatology recognizes that science has the power to assist people in their quest to look to look younger through a variety of techniques that can improve your appearance.

What do many people think of when they think about looking more youthful? Generally they express a desire to:
  • remove facial lines
  • remove vein problems
  • minimize wrinkles
  • make their lips appear fuller
  • improve the general appearance and texture of their skin
Although there is no fountain of youth, many of the following procedures and treatments can be used alone or in combination to achieve the expressed desires of our patients.

Acne is a common skin disease that causes pimples. Pimples form when hair follicles under your skin clog up. Most pimples form on the face, neck, back, chest and shoulders. Anyone can get acne, but it is common in teenagers and young adults. It is not serious, but it can cause scars.

No one knows exactly what causes acne. Hormone changes, such as those during the teenage years and pregnancy, probably play a role. There are many myths about what causes acne. Chocolate and greasy foods are often blamed, but there is little evidence that foods have much effect on acne in most people. Another common myth is that dirty skin causes acne; however, blackheads and pimples are not caused by dirt. Stress doesn't cause acne, but stress can make it worse.
